Dr. Christopher Perrin

Wellspring Classical exists to support homeschooling families in Northwest Houston by providing a two‑day‑a‑week Christian community rooted in classical methodologies. We are dedicated to offering a high‑quality education that nurtures critical thinking, creativity, and Christ‑centered formation. Through restful, worshipful rhythms, we cultivate a place where parents and students learn deeply, wonder freely, and grow in wisdom, virtue, and joy.

Our desire is for wonder to lead our studies. We pursue "restful learning" or scholé (pronounced skoh-LAY). Derived from the Greek, scholé encourages contemplation, reflection and conversation. This posture cultivates deep, joyful learning that is free from anxiety and rich with delight.
At the Grammar level, to nurture wonder we incorporate hands-on learning, play, creativity and exploration. At the Dialectic level, we encourage students to deepen their understanding by asking thoughtful questions and making meaningful connections. At the Rhetoric level, we guide students to express their thoughts with clarity and eloquence, inspiring wonder in others.
We promote an atmosphere of restful learning by modeling peace, love for the subject, unrushed contemplation, and meaningful engagement.
In all things, we long for wonder to lead - shaping curiosity, imagination, and a lifelong love of learning.

Augustine describes education as teaching students to "love that which is lovely." To grow in true wisdom, we must help our students and families train their appetites to value what is true, good and beautiful (Philippians 4:8).
Not only do we encourage our students to develop a love of each subject, but we also provide encouragement and resources to help develop the Christian virtues of love, humility, patience, constancy and perseverance.
We firmly believe that parents are the primary teachers and models for their children. As a community, we come alongside families—offering instruction, encouragement, and resources that support this calling. Our instructors are Christian men and women who love their subjects deeply and teach with conviction, joy, and a desire to see wisdom take root in every student.
In all things, we long for wisdom to grow: in our studies, in our habits, and in our pursuits.

We believe that God is the source of all true learning. Because all truth is God’s truth, every subject becomes an opportunity for worship.
We desire for our students to see that worship is not confined to a moment or a class period; it is a posture of the heart that permeates all of life. Whether studying mathematics, reading the great books, exploring God’s creation in science, or practicing the arts, we encourage our students to respond with awe, humility, and joy.
Our rhythms are intentionally shaped to cultivate this posture. We begin our days with community worship through song, scripture recitation, prayer and liturgical learning. We invite families to see their learning as an opportunity to love God with their heart, soul, mind, and strength.
In all things, we long for worship to abound: in our conversations, in our discoveries, and in our community.

Kristen is a homeschooling mother of eight with over fifteen years of experience in classical education as both a teacher and director. During that time, she has mentored families, coached educators, and supported students within time-tested models rooted in wisdom and virtue.
Her work in classical education is complemented by more than twenty-five years of leadership in women’s ministry, where she has taught and discipled women across generations. As the mother of a large family, she was especially drawn to the gentle rhythms of a scholé approach—one that protects unhurried time for the study of what matters most.

Shannon is a homeschooling mother of four whose journey in home education began in 2003 with her first daughter. Over the years, she has seen firsthand the fruit of strong Great Books programs and the formative power of classical study.
Deeply shaped by that experience, she desires for her youngest daughter to have the same restful, beautiful learning her older daughters have known. Like the many generations that have come before us, she believes literature is foundational to the development of character. Wellspring Classical reflects her conviction that students need time to read carefully, to understand deeply, and to reflect thoughtfully—engaging in meaningful discussion with a committed cohort of peers within a community rooted in truth, beauty, and goodness.

Priscilla is a homeschooling mother of three and a former secondary school science teacher. Having worked within modern educational systems, she became deeply aware of the pressures of pace and performance that often shape contemporary schooling.
With a background grounded in scientific instruction, she was drawn to Wellspring Classical by a desire for her children to learn within a community that values analytic thinking, careful reasoning, and sustained discussion. She was especially drawn to the concept of teaching from rest—an approach that prioritizes sustained attention over acceleration and character formation over output.
